PCA issues notices to SHO,2 SIs for delay in registering rape case

The rape victim of Sector 40,Chandigarh has further demanded that departmental action be also initiated against the aforesaid three police officials of the Sector 39 Police Station,and Kuldip Kaur,Inspector,UT Police Headquarters,Sector 9,Chandigarh,for misusing their official authority for protecting the interest of accused and thereby harming the interest of the complainant.

The complainant has further alleged that despite lodging a complaint,the Police officials have not converted the same into an FIR. The police officials registered a case later but without incorporating detailed allegations of rape levelled by her in her earlier complaints.

She has alleged that police officials came to her residence late night on June 26,and asked her to put her signatures on the FIR,which has already been prepared by them.

She has further alleged that by delaying the registration of FIR,the concerned police officials have damaged her case,as medical examination of the accused could not be conducted on account of delayed registration of FIR,and even her own medical examination was conducted by the police officials after a delay of more than 4 months,after registration of FIR,alleged the complainant.

The victim has demanded criminal action against the “errant” police officials.
