Panchkula voter base grows faster than that of Kalka

A total of 1,95,974 voters will cast their vote in the Panchkula constituency.

The total number of voters in Panchkula constituency witnessed an increase of 1,864 voters from the Lok Sabha elections held in March early this year, while the number has gone up by only 743 in Kalka constituency.

A total of 1,95,974 voters will cast their vote in the Panchkula constituency, with females constituting about 46.87 per cent of the total number of voters. In Kalka constituency, the number is  1,56,921, with 46.67 per cent females.

The voters mostly belong to the age-group of 30-39 as they constitute 25.23 per cent of the total voter base in Panchkula constituency. Meanwhile, there are 4,873 voters in the age-group of 17-18 who will be voting for the first time in the Assembly elections from Panchkula, and 4,573 from Kalka constituency.

The process of voter registration closed on September 27, with the conclusion of the process of filing nominations by candidates of various parties.

“According to the rules, we have closed the process of voter registration, and there will no more new voters. However, we are still accepting the voter registration forms from people who have submitted after September 27, and will make their voter ID cards after October 22,” said Hema Sharma, Sub-Divisional Magistrate (SDM), Panchkula.

The Vidhan Sabha elections in the Panchkula district, consisting of two constituencies, Kalka and Panchkula, are slated to be held on October 15, and the results will be declared on October 19.
