With Assembly elections around the corner, the Panchkula police have chalked out elaborate security arrangements for maintaining law and order on election day.
While there are plans to bring in more police force from outside the district,a proposal to put up as many as 20 nakas across the district, including the sealing of border areas has been finalised.
It will be difficult to provide the exact number of police personnel that we plan to bring in. Besides the usual nakas,we would be sealing all corners of the district, said a senior police officer of security branch of Panchkula police.
There are eight such points where the district shares its border with other areas. Also there would be around 12 nakas at almost every sensitive point of the district such as the MDC T-point,Housing Board Chowk and Majri Chowk, added the officer.
Panchkula has 139 polling booths and 88 polling stations,of which 16 booths and 9 polling stations are hyper-sensitive. As far as Kalka is concerned, there are 171 polling booths and 156 polling stations. Of these, while 16 booths and 11 polling stations are hyper-sensitive,14 booths and 11 polling stations are sensitive, added the officer.
