Union Health Minister J P Nadda inaugurated the online registration facility for patients at PGI Wednesday.
The facility was started in April this year and has been functioning even before its inauguration.
A PGI statement said “till date, 27,277 patients have availed this facility. In addition, reports from 21 laboratories have been made available to patients at the click of a button.” Figures provided by the hospital to Chandigarh Newsline earlier in December said that the hospital had recorded around 11,000 online registrations.
PGI spokeswoman Manju Wadwalkar said that it was “a standard practice followed in all such institutions” to have a soft launch first, followed by an inauguration after the systems were up and running.
Likewise, the tele-evidence facility, which was also inaugurated by Nadda Wednesday, has been functional for the last one year. The hospital’s statement read that “PGI received 2,000 summons in 2014 and 2,100 summons in 2015 for giving their professional or expert medical evidence in various courts located in Punjab, Haryana.”
The research laboratory on autistic spectrum disorder or autism, which was formally inaugurated last week, was functioning for more than a year under the supervision of Professor Bikash Medhi, according to a PGI statement. The lab was inaugurated by Director, PGI, Professor Yogesh Chawla.
The robotic surgery facility started on November 21, 2014, was also inaugurated by Nadda in February this year, as was the Image Guided Radiation Therapy. According to the doctors, the facility was also functional three months before it was “officially” inaugurated.
