It all started with a dream to start a cafe where people could do more than just grab a bite or a cup of coffee. Aarti and Vishal Bhasin designed Books n Brew as a place for people to sit back and relax, listen to live music by local bands, view exhibitions by young artists, play board games and read from the books corner. As an avid reader,I wanted the concept to revolve around books, shares Aarti,as she walks towards the free read book wall in the cafes Sector 38 branch. Here, there are more than 300 books on various subjects that visitors can pick up and read at the cafe and even borrow for a day. Their new cafe in Sector 16 also has a cosy reading room, where book donation is encouraged. Also at hand are books on sale at discounted prices alongside a young authors corner where writers can display their new writings.
Taking the concept and their love for books further,Books n Brew is hosting a literary festival Books Brewing on June 24 in Sector 16. The event, explains Vishal,is about inviting people who love books along with authors, publishers and avid readers to discuss new trends in the literary and publishing world. The aim of the festival is also to create a platform for young and aspiring authors to share and learn from experts in the industry.
The one-day festival will open on June 24 at 10.50 am at Books n Brew,Sector 16,Chandigarh.
