“Whether it’s a workshop,competition or a campaign I am always a part of it. I enjoy the experience. It’s always a learning process fro me,and if I win it is just an offshoot ,” she says,adding that the election process,too,was a learning process.

“Be it my college or the students,I got a fresh insight to everything,” she says. Talking to the students she realised that most were not aware of the opportunities available to them and how they can benefit them. “So,this is what I put foremost on my agenda. To provide students with adequate knowledge about the various things they can do and learn and to provide international exposure,” Divya says.

She also wants to inculcate the value of research among students at the graduation level and to make MCM College the best college in India.

“We have smart classes,I want them to be even better,” she says.

A BA final year student with psychology honors and sociology as her subjects,Divya’s been active in debating and has recently come back after a mountaineering expedition from Rudugaira peak. “I got 75 per cent aggregate in BA first and second year,” she says. The fact that she is an all-rounder and interacts with students from different spheres helped her win,she says. “I know students from different departments,activity areas and clubs and know their problems and how to solve them. Probably that’s the reason most of them voted for me,” she says.

Having completed her schooling from Yadavindra Public School,Mohali,she is described as punctual,diligent and ethical by her friends. “As for the future I am still deciding between mass communication and uniform services,but then I am not rigid. I am open to whatever comes my way,” she adds.
