When it comes to traditional Indian fast food coupled with sweets,here’s a name that’s fast gaining popularity. And it’s got much to do with the way they are spreading their wings. From the princely town of Patiala where Gopal’s first opened shop nearly five decades ago to Punjab and Chandigarh,Gopal’s is on a roll opening new outlets,the latest being in Sector 15. On offer is a humongous variety of vegetarian fare that brings in not just sweets and snacks but cakes,pizzas,ice-creams,coffee and more. While the ground floor hosts different sections for ‘desi ghee’ sweets as well as Bengali sweets and a new sugar-free range,there is also a cake shop with a variety of cakes in different flavours. The store also offers 50 different lip-smacking namkeens. “All items are specially de-oiled and scientifically packed to keep them crisp,” mentions a representative. The first floor offers a more extensive menu bringing in vegetarian fast food such as burgers,grilled sandwiches,footlongs,pizzas,Chinese dishes and more. To add more variety,the menu here also boasts of south Indian dishes and stuffed naan combinations. Combos. “We will also have Gopal’s special Poori Chana on Sundays,” adds the representative.
