Aziz Quraishi explores the intricacy of a man-woman relationship in Be-Libaas
How can you define something as subjective as right or wrong? Are there any black and whites in life? Is a person or a situation responsible for ones behaviour? And above all,are we as human beings equipped to judge another? Such and many more questions will penetrate your thoughts and force you to introspect,as artist, theatre actor and director presents the naked truth in IPTAS Be-Libaas. The play underlines how human relationships, especially between a man and woman are governed by upbringing, society, options and how greed and exploitation creep into relationships,so who is the victim or the victimizer? I attempt to portray this psyche and a reflection of varying behaviour(s) of men, women and society in a medley of situations, the writer and director of the play Aziz Quraishi describes the task as an absorbing challenge. Hosted by the Sufi Foundation,India, the play, adds Quraishi, would be a big hit with young women and a wake-up call for those who are complacent and indifferent to unforeseen situations. Complex human relations, adds lead actor Teekam Joshi, have been handled gracefully and gently by the director and actors and so,the circumstances, dilemmas, and complex hues of human nature in changing times and fortunes are portrayed through six stories. Two narrators weave varied incidents and the actors play multiple roles to bring forth how life is nothing, but a medley of situations.
Watch the drama unfold at Tagore Theatre on Saturday,6.30 pm.
