NSUI creates stir with cartoons

A cartoon on the party’s Facebook page Monday depicted the presidential candidate of NSUI to have won the election race.

The National Students’ Union of India (NSUI) seems to have assumed that their victory in the Students’ Council elections is sure this year. A cartoon on the party’s Facebook page Monday depicted the presidential candidate of NSUI to have won the election race.

Meanwhile, in yet another Facebook update targeting the Students’ Organisation of India (SOI), NSUI posted a cartoon with a tag line that Panjab University (PU) would run on SOI terms. The cartoon shows Vicky Middhukhera, senior leader of SOI and the state chief, with a message in his hand, “Let promises go in bin, inflow of drugs will not be a problem after winning the election.”

Another cartoon depicts a professor saying to a student that he cannot get admission in Panjab University as he has scored very low marks, to which a friend of the student replies, “Yaar tu tension na le, hum Vicky se cheating seek lenge.” (Do not worry, we will learn from Vicky how to cheat).

Brinder Dhillon, senior leader of NSUI, said, “We are not targeting anybody. The cartoons depict reality, and it is the best way to reach out to more students. A lot of students on the campus are having a good laugh.”

Vicky Middhukhera, while commenting on the cartoons targeting him and his party, said, “These cartoons do not matter, which is why we do not want to waste our energy on replying to all of them. Students on the campus want to know about our work and our contribution to the university and NSUI does not have any answers to the same. Through these cartoons, we get to know about their state of mind. They are just wasting their time and nothing else.”
