Studying Law at the University Institute of Legal Studies (UILS),Panjab University (PU) is all set to become more exciting with the department introducing other courses for students,in addition to the existing five-year Bachelor in Arts and Law (BALLB).
The Bar Council of India has granted permission to colleges across the country,that offer integrated law courses,to include Bachelors in Computer Applications and Law (BCALLB),Bachelors in Business Administration and Law (BBALLB) and Bachelors in Commerce and Law (BComLLB) in their curriculum.
Chairperson,UILS,Dr P S Jaswal said,Following the permission given by the Bar Council of India,we have decided to start with the courses.
In addition to the new courses,new subjects such as banking and insurance will also be introduced to give students more options in choosing subject combinations.
G K Chatrath,a PU Fellow and Dean Law Faculty,added,In a way,the entire curriculum is being changed.
The development is significant as this is the first time ever such changes have been introduced in the department.
For students at the department,the change is a welcome step. I am fortunate to have secured admissions to the department this year as I will now have more options to choose from, said Shikha,a student at the University Institute of Legal Studies.
