New Tibetan election commissioner takes charge

Jamphel Choesang,who was appointed the new election commissioner and the chairman of the public service commission by Tibetan spiritual leader Dalai Lama recently,took charge at a ceremony in Dharamshala on Monday.

Choesang was nominated to the post during the eighth session of the Tibetan Parliament,which was unanimously approved by the Tibetan parliament-in-exile.

Senior officials of the Central Tibetan Administration,including the auditor general,secretaries,chief planning officer and the representatives of Gadhong and Nechung monasteries attended the ceremony.

Jamphel Choesang has been serving in the Central Tibetan Administration for more than 25 years since 1980.

He has served as the secretary in the Bureau of His Holiness the Dalai Lama in New Delhi for six years and two years in the office of the Dalai Lama. He has also served as the representative of the Dalai Lama in South Africa and France.

Prior to his appointment as the election commissioner,Choesang worked as secretary of the Department of Security.
