New Chandigarh DC takes charge: IAS Nishant Kumar Yadav is an IIT Delhi grad

A 2013-batch Haryana cadre IAS officer Nishant Kumar Yadav is expected to hold the office for a period of three years

Chandigarh welcomed its new Deputy Commissioner on Friday as 2013-batch Haryana cadre IAS officer Nishant Kumar Yadav assumed charge, replacing Vinay Pratap Singh. Yadav previously served as the Deputy Commissioner of Gurugram.

Upon taking office, Yadav was assigned various responsibilities. In addition to his role as Deputy Commissioner and District Magistrate, he now holds the positions of Estate Officer, President of the Zila Sainik Welfare Board, Controller of Civil Defence, Chairman of the Waqf Board, and Labour Commissioner.

The 34-year-old is a graduate of IIT Delhi and cleared the UPSC examination in the first attempt.

Yadav’s prior roles include DC of Karnal, additional DC and Municipal Commissioner of Karnal, and sub-divisional magistrate of Sonepat. He also served as secretary of the Haryana Public Service Commission.

The Chandigarh administration also formally relieved Vinay Pratap Singh, who had held the DC post since 2021.
