Sitting in the heart of Silicon Valley in the US,techie Samir D Khandwala obsessed about Indians overseas not getting adequate access to Indian movies, music or other art forms, inspite of being so content-rich culturally. Out of this idea came music portal iMusti.com four years ago. Based out of Fremont,California,iMusti.com is today a leading music portal and online (legal) store for Indian music. “It offers digital Indian music worldwide and brings in a complete range of audio and video content on all technology platforms for consumers,” explains Khandwala. The portal streams and sells only licensed Indian music from various genres including Bollywood,Hindustani classical, regional and devotional. “One of our key objectives is to identify rare, popular and high-quality content in all genres and make it available to the subscribers,” adds Khandwala. Piracy is a big problem, admits Khandwala, and so,he ensures everything on his website is legal. “Products are reasonably priced, have original packaging and holograms,” he says. With over 2,50,000 users and growing,iMusti now gets consumer traffic from 140 countries.
