When actors like Konkona Sen Sharma,Rajat Kapoor,Ranvir Shorey,Vinay Pathak,Sheeba Chadha and Munish Bharadwaj get together to reminisce about the days gone by,the stories can range from the frivolous to the philosophical. In the Blue Mug,an experimental play by the Company Theatre of Mumbai, the actors share their personal memories on stage, and

create a narrative that, according to director Atul Kumar,“links with the memories of the audience.”

The Blue Mug will be staged today at at the Indradhanush Auditorium,Sector 5,City centre,Panchkula in a performance organised by Ballantines Leave an Impression. In the play,Kapoor recalls his days spent in Delhi and moves on to his marriage, children and divorce before he points out how the day his marriage ended was also the day the Babri Masjid was demolished. “Thereafter, his recollections veer towards the Ayodhya issue and the riots in Godhra, thus linking a vignette from his life with a larger topic,” says Kumar, adding that he derived inspiration from neurologist Oliver Sachs’ book The Man Who Mistook His Wife for a Hat,about patients with memory lapses. “There is no storyline as the actors narrate their own memories,” he adds.
