THE GREATER Mohali Area Development Authority (GMADA) has got FIRs registered against 19 builders constructing illegal colonies in the district. The authority has uploaded all the details of these builders on its website and asked people not to invest their money in their projects.
GMADA will start another survey to identify more illegal colonies, if any, in the district.

A senior GMADA official said that they had written a letter to the SSP around one-and-a-half month ago, recommending registration of FIRs against builders constructing illegal colonies. The registration of the FIRs was sought under Section 36 (1) of the Punjab Apartment and Property Regulation Act. Following the identification of 19 illegal colonies, the FIRs were registered against the builders at various police stations in the district.
The GMADA official said that they had cancelled the licences of the builders found violating the norms.
GMADA Chief Administrator A K Sinha said that if any person wanted to buy property then he should check GMADA website as all the information about the illegal colonies had already been uploaded on the website.
