When it comes to fine silver jewellery in traditional styles available in the city,Nirmal Maheshchand and her daughter Radhika Maheshchand need little introduction. The jewellery designers, who specialise in heirloom look-alikes,are equally well-known for their work in restoring heritage furniture. The Kidars 7 Cee Gallery in Sector 7,Chandigarh,is now hosting their latest jewellery exhibition along with Dr Neena Chopras line of Just Herbs products and designer label Mahimas latest collection, that comprises suits and juttis from Lahore along with shoes by the label Velvet Walk. The jewellery collection titled Parampara, combines silver with colourful stones like ruby, emeralds, amethysts, rose quartz, golden topaz, turquoise, peridots and earls. Over the years, the rising cost of gold and diamond has taken authentic jewellery away from the reach of many people. Our aim is to keep traditional designs alive but within the budget, pointed out Nirmal. The jewellery is plated in 22K gold and we particularly liked the kundan drops and navratan pieces that are both part of the collection. For brides looking for pocket-friendly prices with no compromise on styles, there are grand kundan sets on offer. The jewellery is priced at Rs 500 onwards. The Pakistani suits are vibrant with lacy dupattas but the ornate shahi slippers called Khussa are worth a look. The exhibition is on till September 7.
