Manpreet goes missing from Facebook,Twitter

After the drubbing in Assembly polls,People’s Party of Punjab president Manpreet Badal has gone into “virtual” wilderness.

After the drubbing in Assembly polls,People’s Party of Punjab (PPP) president Manpreet Badal has gone into “virtual” wilderness. The four-time MLA and former finance minister, who had banked heavily on micro-blogging,social networking and other websites in the run up to the January 30 polls,is now nowhere to be seen on Twitter and Facebook.

The last post by Manpreet on Facebook was a news item posted by him on March 4 — two days ahead of the poll results. Prior to that,he had been regularly posting on Facebook news items relating to him and PPP. In fact,on March 1,a post had asked that “in case of a hung Assembly, what do you think your party PPP shall do?” In response, while 159 votes were for seeking re-election ,225 voted for a post poll alliance.

Among other things,Manpreet had invoked freedom fighters Bhagat Singh,Sukhdev and Rajguru on the Internet to seek support of the people to usher in a change.

On Twitter, where Manpreet used to have interactive sessions with users, responding to their queries ahead of the polls, there has been no tweet from him since February 27. His last tweet wished best luck to the Indian hockey team for the London Olympics 2012 after India beat France 8-1 to book a berth in London Olympics.

These days, even comedian Bhagwant Mann appears not so prolific in posting messages on Facebook. The PPP supporters also appear to be dejected. “bhagwant mann veer g ki hoya j chon haar gye ha tusi ta facebook te v aouna sadh gye ho,,,,loka naal rabta na toro,,,te facebook te jaroor aya kro,,,,,dhanwaad”,one Balvir Grewal posted on Mann’s Facebook account on Friday.

“bhagwant veer ji manpreet ji de ki haal ne….aj kal news vich v nhi aunde…..ta na hi facebook te disde ne…..kte koi iradda ta ni badal lia ohna ne…we were not expecting that and we are feeling little disappointed…,” posted one Sukhwinder Sraon.
