Man stabbed to death in Nayagaon

Unknown persons assaulted a 38-year-old man with knives during the wee hours of Thursday. A medical transcriptor,Vikas Verma succumbed to his injuries.

Verma,a native of Solan,had come to the city three days back to expand his work. He was residing in Shivalik Vihar,Nayagaon. As per police,four unidentified people forcibly entered his house at around 2:30 am and stabbed him repeatedly with a dagger. Having suffered injuries,Vikas sought help from his neighbour who rushed him to PGI where Vikrant was declared dead on arrival. He strived to survive for one to two hours but succumbed to his injuries.

Motive behind murder is not yet known. As per police,assailants were nurturing a grudge against Vikas. However,Mahesh Kumar,a relative of Vikas said he (Vikas) had no animosity with anyone.

Vikas is survived by his wife and two children. The body was handed over to the family of the deceased in the evening. A case on charges of murder has been registered by the Mohali Police against unknown persons. No accused has been arrested so far.
