Man gets two years’ RI under narcotics Act

A local court on Wednesday sentenced a man to two years’ rigorous imprisonment,holding him guilty of possessing narcotics.

A local court on Wednesday sentenced a man to two years’ rigorous imprisonment,holding him guilty of possessing narcotics.

The court of Additional District and Sessions Judge,Preeti Sahni announced the sentence while imposing a penalty of Rs 2,000 on the guilty,under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substance (NDPS) Act.

Gurpreet Singh,a resident Hoshiarpur,was arrested by the Chandigarh Police from Sector 17 on July 2,2007. He was in possession of 10 kg of poppy husk,while a checking of buses at Inter State Bus Terminus in Sector 17 was conducted then.
