Man driving on wrong side injures six

In an accident on the railway over-bridge on the Chandigarh-Ambala National Highway at Dera Bassi,a car driver injured half a dozen persons and later sustained serious wounds himself.

In an accident on the railway over-bridge on the Chandigarh-Ambala National Highway at Dera Bassi on Wednesday night,a car driver injured half a dozen persons and later sustained serious wounds himself. According to the police,the incident occurred at around 10:30 pm,when an Alto coming from the Chandigarh side and being driven on the wrong side of the road,hit two motorcycles and a scooter.

Five persons were injured on the Dera Bassi railway over-bridge. Then,while being driven ahead on the bridge,the same car rammed into a Verna coming from the opposite side,leaving the Alto driver himself seriously injured. The driver of the Verna too was wounded.

All the injured were rushed to GMCH-32,where the Alto driver is said to be in critical condition.

Three of the injured motorcycle riders were identified as Gagan Sharma,a resident of Shiwalik Complex,Zirakpur,Parkash Chand,a resident of New Defence Colony,Zirakpur,and Mehmood,a resident of Mauli Jagran

The driver of the Alto could not be identified till the filing of this report. The police have initiated investigations into the case,said Dera Bassi Station House Officer (SHO) Harjinder Singh.
