Man held for accepting bribe of Rs 50,000 on behalf of head constable

The Vigilance Bureau (VB) on Wednesday arrested a man who was reportedly accepting a bribe of Rs 50,000 on behalf of a head constable who is posted in the Economic Offences (EO) Wing of the district police. The VB also booked the head constable.

According to the information, a team of the VB arrested Gurpreet Singh while he was accepting Rs 50,000. The arrest was made on the complaint of Ashok Kumar who alleged that he was called at the EO Wing where he met head constable Amritpal Singh who was posted as the munshi.

The complaint stated that Amritpal had told him that he could help him and demanded Rs 50,000 from him and also asked him to give the money to Gurpreet Singh.

Acting on the complaint, the VB said it laid a trap and arrested Gurpreet red-handed. Amritpal could not be arrested yet.
