The officer said that this wasn’t that first time that the teacher in question has been suspended. “Earlier also she was suspended for thrashing students mercilessly during her posting in another school,” said the DEO.

The parents of the students from the village in their complaint to the DEO alleged that the teacher does “path puja” (religious activities) in the classroom during school hours. They further alleged that the teacher also “smokes in the classroom” in front of the students, something to which “She herself has admitted”.

“She also performs “tantar-mantar” (black magic) activities and does experiments on children due to which they feel terrified and express unwillingness to attend the school. All these activities are having a bad effect on students and you are requested to remove her immediately from the school,” read the complaint filed by the panchayat, parents and other residents of the village.

The DEO said: “The children also informed their parents that they feel scared while going to the school as the teacher often claims that she gets possessed by a spirit and starts behaving in an odd way. She keeps her hand on the heads of the students and starts murmuring something. We have recommended her expulsion to the head office in Chandigarh”.
