Renee Singhs first anthology,Sacred Longings,is an expression of her inner feelings,a compilation of spontaneous outpourings from her heart. Having written more than 1,000 poems,Singh, who is a psychoanalyst, says that it was about time they were published. The poems,Singh says, were mostly written in her early twenties. They deal with subjects that I will not want to touch any longer,’ she says,in conversation with former bureaucrat Vivek Atray at the book release function organised by Hamshira at the Press Club on Friday.
Some of the verses deal with divine love revealing a spiritual bent of mind. Many of the poems talk about the souls longing to connect with the divine spirit. Love, she believes,is the answer to everything: it heals and makes one ecstatic. I don’t focus on anything in particular when I write but on the flow of the moment and the feelings it generates. There are various levels of resonance and its the thought and its energy that is all powerful, she adds. Singh is also set to release another anthology of poetry and a book on science and spirituality, the latter the subject of her research work and something she holds dear.
We the creators,we the world,we who are his image unfurled. We who are inwardly tuned we who are only purely loveruns of the poems in the collection. In this materialistic, hectic world, poetry is a joy of life,to be enjoyed and cherished,Singh sums up.
