The virtual word is abuzz with additions of F1 on their gaming sites,as the heat turns up in Noida for the actual F1 racing. “Rich in graphic, detail and sure to give you an adrenaline rush,it seems that a new game on F1 is launching just about every week,” says Nischal Masand,a BCA student and F1 enthusiast who took to gaming a month ago and is now an addict.

For now he is glued to Zapak Games “F1 2011”,the official Formula One game for PS3,XBOX 360 and PC platform. In the game, competitive online racing is extended to 16 players going head-to-head in Grand Prix with up to eight AI drivers added to simulate the full grid of 24 drivers including Sebastian Vettel,Lewis Hamilton,Fernando Alonso,Michael Schumacher and Jenson Button.

While,“F1 2010” gives you the option to chose from cars like Ferrari,Vodafone McLaren Mercedes and Lotus Renault GP in their iconic black and gold livery,“Even the Indian,Buddh International Circuit in Greater Noida, which few people have seen up close,is also part of the game. And with background settings of night and day, lighting for tracks and formats of international circuits copied to the very last detail, the user gets to actually go from 300 mph to 30 mph on bends and feel the force of the car,” says Vaibhav Odhekar, business head at Zapak Games.

Rahul Razdan, president (product and operations),ibibo.com,too nods in agreement,as he unveils their offering for F1 season — “High Speed Racing Cars”,a game that is targeted at the gamers between the age group of 16 to 25 year. In the game, the player has the option to own a racing car in the virtual world. “It seems that youngsters feel that virtual F1 race can get them closer to tracks,” says Razdan. While most can never get a real life feel of the adrenaline rush of speeding away in an F1 car, these games give them a taste of the real deal.

From holding the controls of the car in their hands to being able to virtually fit into the shoes of their favourite drivers, the reasons for opting for virtual F1 games are many. “I love that the game tests my reflexes on the track and speed in the pit,” says Ashima Sehgal,an avid follower the game on the official website of the 2011 Formula 1 Airtel Indian Grand Prix.
