WE,a group of contemporary women artists from Chandigarh has organised a two-day painting workshop in collaboration with the Punjab Arts Council to celebrate International Women’s Day. On at Punjab Kala Bhawan,Sector 16 on March 6 and 7,the workshop has 30 senior and budding artists of the city and the region as part of the workshop. Sadhna Sanghar,the driving force behind the WE group says,“It’s a time to celebrate the spirit of womanhood. We as women artists are making visual statements to commemorate the long and ongoing struggle of women to make their place in a male-dominated world.” Over the past 10 years WE group has made significant contributions in bringing women artists to the forefront,not only in the city but also in big and small towns of Punjab and Haryana. The workshop will see senior artists like Jaskanwal,Anjali Aggarwal,Kumudi Prajapati,Daljit Kaur,Alka Jain,Sumit Kaur,Alka Kalra and Sadhna creating works on the theme of womanhood.
