The Chandigarh Sports Department will organise Inter-School Tournament from November 18 to 20 under the scheme Promotion of Sports and Games in the discipline of archery (boys & girls): 40M & 30 M (Indian round),50m,40m and 30m (FITA round),athletics (boys) 100,200,400,1500,3000 and shot put (5kg),long jump,high jump,javelin throw (600 gm),discus (1 kg & 4 x 100 medley relay & (girls) 100,200,400,800,3000 (meter) run and shot put (4kg),long jump,High Jump,Javelin throw (400 gm) & 4 x 100 M. Relay,Badminton (boys & girls),Basketball (Boys & girls) and hockey (Boys & girls) team championship under 16 years. The archery event shall be conducted at Lake Sports Complex,athletic at Sports Complex,Sector 7,badminton at Badminton Hall,Sector 42,basketball at Sports Complex,Sector 46 and hockey at Hockey Stadium,Sector 18,Chandigarh,respectively. The tournament will be organised in accordance with the rules of the National Sports Federations concerned as applicable to the National Championship. The age of the participants should be below 16 years as on 31.12.09. The champion team/individual event in each game will take part in the forthcoming 4th National Inter School Tournament (Group-1) at Rajnand Gaon,Chattisgarh from December 3 to 6. The participants must be enrolled as student in Government School/Recognized school by the Education Department,Chandigarh Administration. Entries should be sent till November 16 at 4pm to K.S.Bharti,in-charge,Youth Affairs,Sports Department,Hockey Stadium,Sector 42,Chandigarh or concerned coach of the department.
Neha scores four goals in DAV-8 win
If Neha Pandey showed a glimpse of her talent in the previous match,then her skills were on full display on Wednesday when she netted as many as four goals to help DAV Club,Sector 8,rout Sacred heart School,Sector 26,by a huge margin of 7-0 in the Chandigarh Senior Women Football Championship for the Deepak Kampania Trophy at the Sector 17 Football Stadium. Neha ripped through the opposition defence and netted in the 16th,28th,59th and 67th minutes to help her team record a crushing win. Namrata (4th),Kamla (29th) and Ekta (60th) contributed one goal each for the winners. Meanwhile,in a group A outing,title contenders St Stephen’s School,Sector 45,snubbed Panjab University Campus Club’s challenge 2-1. St Stephen’s School opened their account in the 31st minute through Shruti Sharma. The PUC Club girls restored parity through Pooja in the 36th minute. Stephen’s skipper Tanvi Bhargava,however,scored a superb goal in the 42nd minute to guide her team to another win.
Little Flower stuns NPS-18
Last year’s finalists and strong contenders New Public School,Sector 18,were stunned when Little Flower Convent School pulled off a stunning 17-15 win over their opposition to reach the Super League stage in the Kabir Basketball Trophy being played in the St Kabir school premises in Sector 26 on Wednesday. The match was well fought and a last minute basket decided the match in favour of Little Flower. Anubha (6) and Shubhange (7) were the main scorers for Little Flower,while Neha (8) and Smiti (7) top scored for New Public School,who recently won the Emily Memorial Basketball Tournament in Panchkula. Meanwhile,St Xavier’s defeated St Anne’s of Sector 32 by a margin of 32-11. Mankanwar (14) and Deepkirat (12) were the star performers for the winners. In another encounter,Sacred Heart beat Saupin’s School,Sector 32,by 21-10 with Jessica and Sukhmani scoring five points apiece. In the last match of the day,St Kabir School proved too good for Delhi Public School,Pinjore,as they handled them a 16-6 defeat. Kriti and Naina scored six points each for the winners.
Ball badminton tourney on anvil
The Ball Badminton Sports Promotion Association Chandigarh has decided to organise 6th Junior and Senior Chandigarh State Ball Badminton Championship which will be held at Sri Guru Gobind Singh Sr. Sec. School,Sector 35,Chandigarh from November 14 and 15. The Chandigarh teams (men and women) will be selected for 55th Sr. National Ball Badminton Championship to be held at Kaddpa (Andhra Pradesh) from Jan 12-19 2010 after watching their performances in the state championship. Players born on or after 1-1-1991 are eligible for junior state championship. Entries can be submitted to Naresh Kumar (9814181081).
Athletics meet today
Gurukul Vidyapeeth Group of Institutes,Ramnagar,Banur,will organise the 2nd Annual Indoor Sports and Athletic Meet on November 12. Various indoor and outdoor sports activities like shot put,discus throw,javelin throw,high jump,long jump,table tennis,different types of race,chess and carrom-board will be conducted in the premises.
