They need trained professionals,and this is where institutes like Fashionista step in,” says Provogue’s Director,Akhil Chaturvedi while interacting with the staff and students at Fashionista,the School of Fashion Technology,SCO 915,NAC,Manimajra. According to him,fashion is a growing industry and it’s a lucrative career option. In fact,Fashionista is on with it admissions to Masters,Bachelors and Diploma courses. “We have MSc,BSc and Diploma and Advanced Diploma in fashion design,textile design,fashion management and an exclusive course in interior design. There are short term courses on personality development and modeling,” informs Honii Sandhu,Centre Head,Fashionista. Our focus,she adds,is to give the right exposure and platform to children to this industry. “Our e-library and wifi enabled campus along with laptops given to students enhance the learning experience. Not only this,we have a stream of top shots from the fashion industry as guest lectures,” she adds. Fashionista is also looking for children who can be part of their fashion shows which will be held and annually. “We are looking for models on a permanent basis.” Along with this,there will be videos on the making of Provogue ads courtesy Chaturvedi for students. “Our students will be guided on fashion as an industry and career and will be placed for internships,” says Sandhu. The aim of the institute is to provide learning solutions that enhance wisdom through effective training. It will also expose students to experiential learning through concentrated internships,guest lectures and industry-sponsored projects. A statutorily registered and ISO certified institute,Fashionista has on board industry’s best including fashion designers Reynu Taandon,Abdul Halder,Umer Zaaffar and Hemant Kaushik; fashion photographer Rahul Dutta; fashion stylist Vijay Roy; jewellery designer Rahul Popli; interior designer Anil Kapoor and the grooming guru Pooja Mahajan Kalsia to lead the students on the path of creative success. The institute is the member of the oldest fashion organisation,the Fashion Design Council of India (FDCI).
