Showing glimpse of perfect striker,budding Rishab Gupta,outclassed Yatin convincingly in straight sets 2-0(64-9,75-31) to enter the junior snooker semifinals in the ongoing XXVIth Chandigarh (UT) Billiards and Snooker Championship being held in Chandigarh.
Rishab,a student of New Public School,Sector18,Chandigarh,made nice breaks of 21 and 18 to take away the first frame. In the second frame Rishab potted a long red and placed black. He made a break of 17 to start the frame with a lead. Playing safe he gave no opportunity to his opponent and won the second frame easily 75-31 to clinch the match and seal his semis berth.
On the other hand,a keenly fought contest took place between Pradeep and Arif in the senior snooker category. Pradeep managed to overcome an experienced bloke Arif in an extended 5 frame match 3-2 (48-39,68-68,42-71,48-62,64-34).
While down 2 frames,Arif found his touch in the 3rd frame and made break of 29 in the third and 22,17 in the 4th to win the frame. In the final frame it would have been anybody’s game,but Pradeep was lucky to get a fluke and made a break of 23.
In another match,Chetan ended the challenge of Nikhil 3-0 (54-33,60-26,60-18). The cueist Chetan was in control of the balls from the very first frame and played well. He came up with small breaks of 22,24 and 18 in the frames and won easily against Nikhil.
In the senior billiards,fourth seed Amit Verma managed to win over Rahul Garg 2-0 (100-98,101-90) while in the junior billiards Ajay Jain prevailed over Rishab Gupta 2-0 (75-17,75-53) to surge ahead.
In the sub-junior snooker category,Ankit Kapoor beat Garyson 2-0(59-32,69-38). Meanwhile,Rishab Dhamija drubbed Manjot 2-1(29-60,42-26,62-15).
