Illegal cable probe report not submitted

Almost a month after an inquiry into the illegal laying down of cables was marked, the report has yet to be submitted.

Almost a month after an inquiry into the illegal laying down of cables was marked, the report has yet to be submitted. The inquiry had been marked during the House Meet held in May.

The issue had come to light after a team of the vigilance department found underground cables being laid in Sector 34.

It was found that no permission had been obtained from the Municipal Corporation. Work was subsequently stopped.

The councillors alleged that the civic body takes a long time to grant permission for the execution of road work, but did not have any checks when the cables were being laid down illegally.

In fact due to the laying down of these underground cables, roads and paver blocks were spoilt.

The councillors demanded an inquiry into the issue and raised concerns over security.

The inquiry was handed over to Additional Commissioner Sunil Bhatia, who was asked to fix responsibility regarding the lapses and why there was such laxity in taking action.
