He is doing what he does best: making reality shows. Post a big jump from MTV to Channel V,the Roadies rage Rajiv Lakshman is already in action. Come December 12,and this mad genius will hit prime time with The Player. The Player is a giant human experiment – 10 people in a house,a crore at stake and only one person can win it through a unanimous vote. It is but natural, that a few of the inmates will be greedy and not give up their chances of taking away the money. With its share of coaxing, manipulation and scheming,The Player promises to be a pot-boiler of emotions in a bid to take home the cash! Rajivs already fattening his lab rats for yet another exciting experiment in human behaviour. According to him,the game is not about elimination. Its when they choose to quit in favour of the tenth player, says Rajiv, who is fascinated with what makes people tick. What will a person do to win? Its not the solution, but the problem that interests me, with The Player,Rajiv says many of his colours too will be revealed. But havent we already seen him and his twin,Raghu,in extreme action on Roadies and Splitsvilla? Ah,dont judge me please! We behave in a certain way because the game requires it. All we do is provide the participant with an exaggerated version of life and watch how he/she reacts in an intense environment, according to Rajiv, while Roadies was all about finding the right attitude,Splitsvilla is a study in human behaviour – the dark side of love. With The Player, its going to be shortcut to money. Because the youth today is all about shortcuts, over confidence and self projection. The catch is that what do you do even when you have a shortcut, the man is already reveling in the cruel pleasures of this psychological thriller.
In search of heroes,Rajiv is on the lookout for achievers with killer, survival instincts. I think the youth today are chasing the symptoms of success rather than success itself. They are driven by popular stimulus, actually,a situation created by us,but what is youth without dream and aspiration! all Rajiv advises is that one should develop themselves and evolve with time. Just like Channel V. A youth facing brand needs to constantly reinvent. With MTV,he saw a great opportunity, and built on it. Roadies gave him a celebrity status, but that was it. Im a restless soul,Mr Move On. Ive done my work, and it was time to jump, he off,to a new challenge.
