Chetan Bhagats Five Point Someone is now on stage & will play in Chandigarh on Valentines weekend
The book is the best-selling novel in Indian publishing history and theres been a lot of buzz about how 3 Idiots has a close likeness to Chetan Bhagats Five Point Someone! As controversies and debates get hotter,Evam Entertainment has launched a mega tour on the Indian theatre stage with Chetan Bhagats Five Point Someone on stage – adapted, produced and directed by Evam,an entertainment company in Theatre Performance,HR Training using theatre methodologies.
This tour will be breaking new ground in reaching stage entertainment to a younger generation – a crusade that Evam has been spearheading across India for six years now. The tour will cover seven cities, including Chandigarh, where the play will be staged on the Valentines weekend! Five Point Someone,a story of three hostel-mates in IIT,sold more than ten lakh copies in the first year of its release and continues to be on the best-seller list. The theatre adaptation is completely based on the book, telling the story of college life in urban India in a simple and identifiable way, with Chetan Bhagat closely involved in the adaptation of the book to stage. While the world expects IITians to conquer the world, three guys are struggling to survive. Will they make it? Do underperformers have a right to live? Can they show that they are not just a five-point-something but a five-point-someone?
My love for theatre (used to do lots of plays in college) and Evams passionate team (the founders quit their corporate job offers after their MBA to start Evam) means they have my full support for taking Indian theatre to a new level. Evams plays are awesome, and you can ask anyone who has seen them. The FPS adaptation will be a fire cracker, Chetan Bhagat has posted on his official blog. The cast of Five Point Someone is completely from Bangalore, where the production was created. The director Sunil Vishnu K. shifted base to Bangalore from Chennai for 90 days to create the production from there with fresh talent.
To promote the play,a popular local band will be doing a road show of Pink Floyds songs unplugged at 3 Cafe Coffee Day outlets in Chandigarh.
