Making music has become easier now because of hi-tech equipments but conceptualising it has become complicated as all the people are never present at the time of recording,” he says. English words were censored back then. “Now each track has a western touch and words like kambhakt are being extensively used.” Composing was a specialised field,now even children can create nice tunes on computers. “There’s a flood of reality shows and each winner wants to be recorded,” he says,adding that it is just not art that motivates them. “It’s money they are after. From being seen at weddings to funerals,they will not flinch from anything to earn that extra buck,” says Anandji.

Lend a ear

While this is the first Mukesh Musical Nite organised by the Mukesh Musical Arts and Cultural Society,the society provides a platform to upcoming artists and performers to be able to exhibit their talent. “The society will emphasise youngsters and will give a chance to those from slum areas,” says ML Singla,president of the society,going on to add that they will also hold competitions and functions for the disabled and will assist needy but talented singers.
