An audacious batting display from Harman Harry (92 in 63 balls) saw APJ Academy,Kharar trounce MCA Academy by a mammoth 102 runs to win the Ind-Swift Inter-Academy Cricket Tournament for Under-15 title organised by Desh Prem Azad Cricket Academy at St Stephen’s School,Sector 45 on Saturday.
MCA won the toss and invited the opposition team to bat first. Their decision back-fired as APJ batsmen put on some spirited batting display and posted a commanding score of 304 runs for the loss of nine wickets. Openers sahil and Kapil put on 56 runs for the first wicket. However,the 102 runs partnership between Anmol and Harman for the fifth wicket proved to be the fulcrum of APJ batting. Harman Harry looked in supreme form as he walloped the MCA bowlers all around the ground. He looked good for a century but fell short by eight runs. His knock included 13 boundaries and three towering sixes. Kanwarpal Singh and Anmol Singh played identical knocks of 58 runs each to push the team’s total score past 300. Manish Srivastav and Jasinder Singh were the successful bowlers for MCA as they picked up three wickets each.
Chasing the mammoth total,MCA were all out for a modest 202 runs. Kinderpreet top scored with 40 runs while Shine Sharma and Mehnazpreet contributed 31 and 30 runs,respectively. Karanveer broke the backbone of MCA batting with his incisive length and picked up four wickets.
Harman Harry was adjudged the best batsman for his run while Amritpal Singh of MCA took the best bowler title. The best all-rounder title went to Gaurav Singh of DP azad Academy while Kinderpreet was adjudged the player of the tournament. Arjun Aggarwal picked up the most promising player.
