Fresh appeal

They’ve been teasing us with their ‘hum badal rahein hain’ campaign for quite a while now.

They’ve been teasing us with their ‘hum badal rahein hain’ campaign for quite a while now. New shows, new ideas, new faces,Sony Entertainment channel is promising a whole new feast on May 25. The channel did debut on a great note, but got stuck in mediocrity till they realised it sells only to a certain point and level. While they’re raising the bar this month, all we need to check is whether they’ll live upto the hype they’ve created. “Winds of change are blowing through India and you can feel it everywhere. On May 25,Sony Entertainment Television will change to reflect the changes in Indian society,to relate to its new aspiration,to stand up to its new expectations and to cater to its changing entertainment needs. This change is neither one-off nor permanent,we will continue to step in where others fear to tread and will continue to challenge and break new grounds,” reflects N P Singh,Chief Operating Officer of Multi Screen Media. In the meantime, here’s a quick look at what the channel’s lining up for us:

10 Ka Dum 2’ is back with Salman Khan as a hip-hopper host. Then there’s reality show ‘Entertainment Ke Liye Kuch Bhi Karega’ wherein participants will showcase unique skills to bring some laughter and spark in to viewers’ lives. In the fiction section,Sony’s focusing on powerful protagonists who will overcome situations in the most despairing circumstances and come out winners. These are real stories of real people who reflect the true spirit of new India – ‘we can make things happen’,combined with an eclectic mix of history and real life drama like: ‘Chittod Ki Rani Padmini Ka Johur’ – the story of a warrior princess, known for her ethereal beauty, grit, valor, patriotism and sacrifice. ‘Palampur Express’ is an inspirational story of Pavni,a young small town girl, who dreams of being an athlete and win an Olympic gold. ‘Bhaskar Bharti’ will have a man trapped in a woman’s body. ‘Ladies Special’ seems interesting as it’s a drama series which gives a glimpse into Mumbai’s lifeline – the trains, and its ladies special train that runs during the peak working hours and transports thousands of women to their place of work and back. The show will showcase these ‘unsung heroes’ of our society. Also coming up is ‘Dekh India Dekh’,a new take on comedy. As for ‘CID’ and ‘Boogie Woogie’,these channel drivers will continue. So this May 25,tune in. For more, log on to http://www.setindia.com.

Hand of God
Karan Grover is overwhelmed by the love and support he has got from his fans through the years. Almost everyday,he receives gifts from people who admire him and his work—from cakes to flowers, cards to personalised coffee mugs,Karan’s house is flooded with all of it. But the one gift that feels really special to him is a crystal Ganapati statuette. Karan believes that god is with him showering his blessings on him. Morning rituals have become a habit and the religious Karan does not start his day without offering his prayers. Going by how his career is booming,we’re inclined to think that the prayers are working.
