Three-wicket hauls each by Kunwar Raina (3 for 23) and Amaninder Singh (3 for 27) propelled Patiala into a commanding position against Ludhiana as Ludhiana were 179 for the loss of nine wickets in their first innings on the second day of the final of the Punjab State Inter-District U-22 Cricket Tournament being played at PCA Stadium. After posting a total of 405 runs in their first innings,Patiala restricted Ludhiana to a mediocre total of 179 runs for the loss of nine wickets in 76 overs at the end of second day’s play.

Patiala resumed their innings at 346 for 8,Patiala lost their ninth wicket in the form of Amaninder Singh who departed after playing a knock of 49 runs. Patiala innings ended when Rajwinder Golu departed after playing a knock of four runs. Preetkamal remained unbeaten on 147 runs as Patiala ended their first innings at 405 runs. For Ludhiana,Deepak Bansal claimed three wickets for 128 runs while Baltez Singh claimed two wickets for 77 runs.

In reply. Ludhiana made a sedate start as their openers Sunny Pandey and Akhil Aggarwal stitched together a partnership of 38-run partnership before Rajwinder Golu claimed the wicket of Aggarwal. Gagandeep Singh then joined Sunny pandey and the duo added 40 runs for the second wicket. Robin Dhillon broke the partnership when he claimed the wicket of Pandey who gave a simple catch to Jeevenjot at an individual score of 31 runs. At this stage,Ludhiana were 78 for 2 in 26.3 overs and the innings faltered after this. Dhillon soon removed Gitansh Khera before Gagandeep Singh also departed. Soon Ludhiana were 117 for 5 in 44.6 overs and the introduction of Kunwar Raina also saw the fall of some quick wickets for Ludhiana. At the end of the day’s play. Ludhiana were 179 for 9 still trailing Patiala by 226 runs in the first innings.
