There’s a change in the air and it’s signalling the start of festivities for the year. Diwali’s not too far and then there’s the onset of the wedding season. Taking cue,Delhi-based jewellery designer Deepika Gupta has arrived in the city with her collection under the brand name ‘Karrat 22’. Having studied jewellery design in London for a brief period of time,Gupta says her forte lies in designing ethnic Indian jewellery “styled in a contemporary way”. “After I completed my course in the year 2000,I launched Karrat 22 Enterprises in 2001 with specialization in traditional gold Kundan and Polki jewellery,” informs the designer who hired talented craftsmen and artisans from various parts of the country. The collection brings in big,bold pieces that also make the most of precious gems. “Yes,the latest trend dictates the use of vibrant gems and I use a lot of colour in my work,” Gupta will showcase her collection at the ‘Gems & Jewels’ show to be held at Taj from September 19.

Fresh steps
After a successful run of three years,the Mochi store in Sector 17 is boasting of an all-new look and feel. The shoe store now presents a new,trendy and young look with a “fresh attitude” as well. Apart from a new identity and logo that emphasizes the new look,the store will stock on shoes targeted at a fashionable crowd and young professionals. “The new and improved Mochi will cater to the young and restless offering them with fast moving product ranges with an average of 100 new styles every week across the country,” informed Jairaj Kapoor,the regional manager for the brand. To celebrate the opening of the Sector 17 store,the brand has also announced a 20 percent discount on all in-house brands and 10 percent discount on other brands. The offer is valid till September 19.

Festive Offer
Canara Bank introduces a ‘Special Housing Loan Scheme’ that offers a slashed rate of interest on housing loan this festive season. Valid till December,on this there are no processing charges. Besides,a Home Loan Fair was organized at Sector 20,Panchkula branch of Canara Bank,to promote the offer.

Samsung India Electronics Limited announced the opening of its first Samsung IT Brandshop in Punjab and the second IT Brand Shop in the country in Sector 20. The shop showcases Samsung’s entire range of IT and digital products like notebooks,netbooks,monitors,printers,consumables,digital cameras and digital camcorders,along with accessories like laptop bags and headphones.

Amway Opportunity Foundation (AOF),a registered non-profit organization today launched Project Sunrise here in Chandigarh by signing a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with its partner,Theatre Age. As per the terms of this agreement,AOF will partner with Theatre Age and take care of the annual education of 20 underprivileged children from Theatre Age. AOF has replicated this effort across 56 cities in the country,joining hands with NGOs and institutions working for underprivileged children.

Handing over the cheque to Zulfiqar Khan,President,Theatre Age,Kamlesh,Mayor,Chandigarh Municipal Corporation said,“corporate sector also holds responsibility towards society and it is good to see Amway Opportunity Foundation realizing this and coming forward to support the deprived sections of society.” In addition to signing the MoU with Theatre Age,Amway also organized a free health check-up camp for the children from the NGO.
