On a roll

When dreams took wings and sparked them with electrifying energy it gave birth to ‘Aaghaz’,a lively group of DAV College students who have been putting together nationally acclaimed street plays and stage dramas. This Wednesday saw Aaghaz perform their award-winning street play ‘So Sad No’ at Students Centre in Panjab University. The play addresses the problems faced in a common man’s life. “They say the world will come to an end by 2012 but the way we are going, with so many problems like global warming, terrorism, climate change, erosion of values…our message is that the world will come to an end sooner than that,” mentioned Mehak,a group member who explained that the group picks on themes that are topical and current. “For most plays, there is no script to fall back on. We write our own dialogues, compose the music and the songs,” she adds. The group recently won the second spot at the 25th Inter-University National Youth Festival held at Maharishi Dayanand University,Rohtak.
