The festive season is in full swing and the wedding season is just around the corner. Music company Golden Melodies has chosen this opportune time to come out with its two-volume CD set,Rut Teohaaran Dee,which celebrates the folk and cultural traditions of the Punjab. Featuring songs by Minu Bakshi,Lakhwinder Wadali and Param Khurana,the album captures the spirit of Punjabi festivals such as Lohri,Basant,Baisakhi and Teej,and also includes a colourful array of wedding songs. The music has been composed and arranged by Satish Sharma and lyrics are by Surinder Sagar. “The festivals of Punjab are celebrated not only at home,but all over the world. Traditional songs that have come to us through oral tradition have been preserved through this album,” says Bakshi. Paramjit Singh,MD of the company,says,“We are dedicated to preserving the Punjabi folk and culture.”
