Fiza,the estranged second wife of former Haryana Deputy Chief Minister Chander Mohan is likely to join Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP). In a meeting held on Saturday with convener of the city unit of the party Haffiz Anwar-ul-Haq,it was discussed that in the coming days,Fiza would formally join the party.
Discussions were also held about Fiza being a likely contender for the by-election in ward number 7. The seat was vacated after the death of area councillor Laxmi Devi,who had contested from a BJP ticket.
Haffiz said,I had a meeting with Fiza. Discussion was held on a number of issues,including Fiza contesting the by-election of the Municipal Corporation.
There are a number of probable candidates that the party has in mind for the by-election. The final decision would be taken in the coming days.
He added that Fiza was an advocate and the party was keen on fielding an educated candidate from the ward.
The ward comprises of Maloya village and colony. The by-elections are expected to take place in October. With the death of Laxmi Devi,BJP and Congress now have equal number of councillors in the MC. The election is crucial for both the parties in order to gain an upper hand. BSP,that has two councillors in the House,has now jumped into the fray claiming that they would ensure a win for the party.
Fiza alias Anuradha Bali had married Chander Mohan after both of them converted to Islam. Chander Mohan adopted the name Chand Mohammad. Chander Mohan later converted back into Hinduism.
