If you dont want the hassle or expense of catching a flight but you desperately crave a break, you could cruise down to one of the several resorts off the borders of Delhi and on the Jaipur highway, since most of them have interesting deals that might fit your budget in these tough economic times. Tourism has clearly hit a rough patch. There were bomb threats and recession that has played havoc with our business, says Rakesh Gupta, front office manager at Ashok Country Resort in Kapashera,Delhi. Strangely, now were even getting cancellations from tourist groups due to swine flu which is something we are not even remotely related to, adds Gupta. The packages for weekends and even a day stay, has been slashed by 45 per cent from last year. For Rs 7,200 for two (inclusive of taxes) you will be picked-up and dropped from home and even breakfast is thrown in. At the 18-century Mud Fort in Kuchesar a few miles ahead of Noida on NH-24,weekends mean pondering over the quiet scenery with the rustic ambience of the neighbourhood. We havent increased our rates since last year. Business is down by 40 percent this year, says Singh. At Rs 7,000 (inclusive of taxes) for two nights and three days,a couple can enjoy complimentary meals,a bullock cart ride to the country side and a walk through the mango orchards.
