Described by friends and family as a man who was rooted in thought and action,Singh was influenced by Karl Marx,Keats,Shelly,Chekhov. “His life was full of struggles, and he was a self-made man, without any personal indulgences,’’ his wife Rita Shaukin Singh (see photograph, right) reminisces. The book had to wait, she says, because she had two young children to take care of after his untimely death. “It wasn’t easy, but then it was something unavoidable. This wouldn’t have been possible without the support of Shaukin’s friends,’’ she adds.
