DPI(S) to submit reply by Sunday

UT director Public Instructions Samwartak Singh Khangwal is expected to submit his written reply to the questionnaire put forth to him regarding his alleged involvement in the teachers’ recruitment scam by this Sunday following which he will be confronted by the police.

UT director Public Instructions (Schools) Samwartak Singh Khangwal is expected to submit his written reply to the questionnaire put forth to him regarding his alleged involvement in the teachers’ recruitment scam by this Sunday following which he will be confronted by the police.

The questionnaire,comprising 25 questions,was handed over to him by the police on Thursday.

As part of the ongoing investigation in the scam,Samwartak Singh has been asked to submit his detailed reply in writing,so that it can be assessed by the investigating officers and further course of action could be decided.  

The questionnaire has primarily focuses on Samwartak’s relationship with prime accused Jolly.

Sources disclosed that Samwartak has been asked to explain his ‘intimacy’ with Jolly; since when he was in touch with him; how does he justify the numerous calls exchanged between both of them in the last three months; the procedure of recruitment which the DPI (S) office follows; to what extent and at what all stages the DPI (S) is involved in the process of selecting teachers; besides other questions.

“He has been given some time to submit his reply following which the police will confront him regarding his alleged involvement in the case,” a senior police officer said.

Meanwhile,the DPI continued to refrain from his official duties even today. He was scheduled to inaugurate a workshop for government principals on stress management which was eventually inaugurated by District Education Officer Chanchal Singh.

Samwartak Singh was also supposed to address a meeting of the Government Teachers’ Union regarding the Departmental Promotion Committee today,which was postponed.

Talking to Newsline,Samwartak Singh justified his errant visits to office saying,“My father is not well and I was busy looking after him.” He refused to comment whether he was investigated by the police on Thursday.
