DPI indicts school

In a scathing inquiry,the Director of Public Instruction,Punjab has indicted Punjab Public School (PPS),Nabha for keeping its student in “solitary confinement”.

In a scathing inquiry,the Director of Public Instruction (Secondary Education),Punjab has indicted Punjab Public School (PPS),Nabha for keeping its student in “solitary confinement”. In an inquiry conducted by him,the DPI has held the school authorities responsible for “beating the child” and “becoming instrumental in sending him to school hospital as a corporal punishment”. The inquiry report was submitted pursuant to directions of the Punjab and Haryana High Court which had marked an inquiry to the Secretary,Education (Punjab),into complaints of harassment of students by the school management. The directions were passed on a petition filed by the parents of the student,Sukhwinder Singh,who had moved the HC against the school. The report was submitted on Friday before Justice K Kannan.
