Down To Earth

Nature has its own ways. While some plants grow from seeds,we believe that many others either do not set seeds or the seed that is shed is hollow or unable to give out the plant.

Nature has its own ways. While some plants grow from seeds,we believe that many others either do not set seeds or the seed that is shed is hollow or unable to give out the plant. That is the case with palms. The accompanying picture shows the sprouting seeds of a fish tail palm, which were collected from the tree’s base. The plant itself is so beautiful as it has shining leaves that look like a fish tail. It’s very hardy and easily grows in the environs of this region. The seeds are borne on extended strands that hang like beads and emerge in scores from a common spot on any side of the tree. Normally, two such bunches appear on the tree. A group of such trees grown together makes for a good sight.
