The plants have to be reared like children. With the onset of summer and the ever rising temperature it is all the more important to protect the plants from the vagaries of weather. The young plants need watering more frequently, say almost everyday till when they establish,to stand in sun. Their canopy is not enough to protect the main stem from sun-burn injury. It is all the more important to cover the main stem which otherwise gets split and the injury remains for the rest of the plant life. The main stem should be covered with some old paper or gunny bag.
