District-level meet held

To discuss issues which may have inter-state ramifications,a co-ordination committee meeting was held at the UT police headquarters on Monday. The meeting was chaired by Chandigarh SSP S S Srivastava,while Mohali and Fatehgarh Sahib SSPs,representatives of SP Panchkula,Ambala,AIG/GRP Ambala,SP (City and Crime) and SDPOs attended the meeting. Information regarding different gangs of auto lifters,snatchers,dacoits and robbers busted by the district police was exchanged. Similarly,problems of motor vehicle thefts and snatching were also discussed in detail. It was also decided to put up joint checkposts/search operations in the tricity. The unsolved cases in the region were also reviewed. In view of the forthcoming festival season,anti-terrorist measures were also deliberated upon. It was also agreed to hold such meetings on a quarterly basis,a senior police officer said.
