Residents of Phase XI,Mohali are facing a harrowing time as telephone and internet services of BSNL and Airtel are reportedly lying suspended for the past fortnight while footpaths and other public property has been left badly damaged due to digging work by a private telephone and internet service provider in the area.
Area councillor Amrik Singh urged Municipal Council authorities to take immediate note of the widespread destruction caused by the private company, which he said was permitted by the civic body to lay its underground lines.
The deep and wide digging has left heaps of soil in front of houses and has blocked the drainage system, leading to waterlogging even after a short spell of rain, said the councillor, while ruing that repeated complaints to the MC and other authorities concerned have so far fallen on deaf ears.
Singh added that BSNL and Airtel have expressed their helplessness in restoring the services till the ongoing digging work gets completed.
