(Representational photo) Several dogs were allegedly poisoned to death in Kehar Singh Colony in Khanna town in Punjab’s Ludhiana Thursday, the police said.
The police added that local animal lovers found the carcasses of at least five stray dogs and approached the police. A team visited the spot and later, an FIR was filed.
Ashok Kumar, a local animal lover, in his complaint told the police that some unidentified persons served poison-laced food to the dogs following which they died.
Khanna SSP Amneet Kondal said, “Five carcasses have been found till now. While three were already buried by locals when the police reached, two more were recovered later. We are checking the CCTV footage of the area to verify how the dogs were poisoned and by whom. We are also verifying if more dogs have died in the area.”
