Anupama death Committee told to submit report in 48 hours but one member is out of station,another is going out of city today
A day after 17-year-old Anupama Sarkar died at PGI after struggling for life for over a week,PGI Director Dr Yogesh Chawla constituted a four-member inquiry committee today to probe into the matter. The panel has been ordered to submit its report in 48 hours.
The committee will have Head of the Department (HoD) of General Surgery Dr Rajinder Singh as chairman,Orthopedics HoD Dr Mandeep Dhillon and Dr S K Gupta of the neuro-surgery department as members,and Dr Ashok Kumar of the hospital administration department as convenor. According to PGI insiders,Dr Gupta is out of station and expected to join back tomorrow evening while Dr Kumar is going out of station for a conference tomorrow and is expected to join back by July 31.
How will the committee conduct an inquiry and submit its report in 48 hours when two of the fours doctors would not be available? asked a PGI faculty member. When contacted,PGI Spokesperson Manju Wadwalkar said,The panel members have 48 hours to inquire into the matter,which is sufficient time.
