Designer duo Niket and Jainee feel that theres more to a bridal outfit than just one wear
It looked like a crushed silk kaftan at first glance, but as the model took a turn,it seemed more like a kalidaar Anarkali. Though a churidaar was teamed with the kurta-kaftan,the designers of the ensemble,husband-wife duo Niket and Jainee, would like to play with her look further. Often bridal wear is restricted to one look. Our outfits give the bride an option to change that, depending upon the occasion. So one could choose from capris, pants, even a skirt with this outfit or simply wear it like a dress, remarked designer Niket Mishra, who was in the city with wife Jainee to launch their signature labels autumn-winter 2011 collection at multi-designer store Soh Koh,in Sector 26.
The designers, regulars at Wills Lifestyle India Fashion Week, are known for their fusion styling, especially for brides looking to dress up for functions other than the wedding. Theres a lot of scope for our kind of work in pre-bridal events like the sangeet ,reception and post-wedding parties, spells out Jainee. In terms of styling, their clothes could well represent modern India, where rich heritage and culture co-habit with Western thoughts and contemporary ideas.
For instance, the designers love for silks, especially crushed silk,is evident from the abundant use of the fabric in the winter collection. Such fabrics have been used in more Western flowing silhouettes coupled with heavy embellishments. This season we have used a lot of heavy kundan work as embellishments on lehengas and saris along with brocade strips, tulle and velvet for blouses, explains Niket, who finds that clients from Punjab are always asking for brighter and bolder colours. The colour palette this season includes golden, nude beige, wine, deep red along with yellow to orange hues. Citrus-hued saris are also doing well, list out the two.
Jainee also recommends teaming achkhans with layered lehengas or ankle-length capris. We are always looking to add to an outfits life and suggest varied looks to our clients. For example,an asymmetrical top can be worn with a crushed long skirt, points out Jainee as we notice that long open jackets in the collection are also part of the autumn-winter line-up and can be teamed up with either embroidered capris or a crushed silk skirt or a plain churidaar.
In the past, they have been the official designers for Mrs Gladrags 2008,Mrs Globe International 2008 and the prestigious Dar London Hair Stylist Show. The designers are now all set for the Spring-Summer 2012 edition of Wills Lifestyle India Fashion Week.
